Yr11 Animal Care Trip

As part of the BTEC Animal Care course the students have to handle, muck out and prepare the accommodation for a larger animal.

We spent a morning at West Wirral Riding Centre where Mrs Rice keeps her pony Trixie. The students had to place a head collar and muzzle onto Trixie and hold her safely.

They then spent some time mucking out her stable and preparing a fresh bed of shavings. A hay net and water buckets were filled too.

The most enjoyable part was having cuddles with Trixie when all of the work was done. Trixie even got a bit of a make over when the students decided to plait her mane.
